Lyrics Insert Draft

Digi-pack Insert

From my Questionnaire results, it was evident that my target audience would like to have the lyrics to the artist's songs included in the digi-pack. Because of this, I have decided to create an insert for the digipack with all the lyrics inside.

Mrs D

The digipak works well - although the forth pain could show more print skills. The ending of your promo could link more to the lyrics - it's about him being woken up. You are nearly there and it is all coming together.

This is much better Hannah. Well done. It is much clearer who you are promoting and you have some fab ideas in terms of the walking, use of pictures and the narrative works well. I'm slightly confused as to why he is 'playing' the guitar when it is a piano in the music. You need to redo these I'm afraid as it doesn't work. The clip of him playing the guitar in the narrative sequence by the fire is great, but the ones on the bench look strange. Keep going - you are nearly there and it is much better.

Second Draft of Edited Film

Mrs D

This is a good draft Hannah. You have some effective transitions - I like the use of the dissolve to link the two locations with the fire. Try and get some more filming done and link more to the lyrics.

Filming - Day 3

After I'd made my new decisions about the music promo, I filmed some more scenes with my male actor. This went really well and I was able to film the parts of him singing successfully and then capture the scenes of him walking, which will be sped up in the editing of the film. The only problem I came across was difficulty when using the dolly as I wasn't able to use it on completely flat ground, there it was shakey and produced a shakey image. Other than this, the day filming, went successfully.

Revised Storyboard

Problems with Editing

When it came to editing the film and putting the promo together, I thought the timing was great but the product as a whole lacked-lustre and wouldn't be a memorable music video that the target audience would respond well to. From this, I decided to revise my storyboard and add in some extra clips that would make the audience connect better with the male actor, as he is ultimately the singer and the artist that I want to promote. I have asked my actors if they are able to film again so that I am able to capture these new clips and put them into the music promo and hopefully produce a better outcome.

Filming - Day 2

For the campfire scene and the dining room scene, I had to film in the evening when it was dark, so had to film on a different day when my actors were available.
When filming the campfire scene, I had to make sure the fire was big enough and bright enough to provide enough light to be able to see the actors in the dark. Luckily, I was able to do this and get a good film at the end of it.

Filming - Day 1

Unfortunately, I was unable to keep to my filming schedule due to illness, so I had to split up the days when I was able to film.
I decided to film the living room scene, kitchen scene and the bedroom scene on the first day of filming as these were scenes that had to be filmed during the day.
I followed my storyboard to ensure I only filmed what needed to be filmed in order to be efficient and didn't come across many problems, only slight tweaking of mise-en-scene.
However, when it came to the technical part of filming, I did find that the dolly we were provided with was extremely difficult to use and didn't keep the camera still, making the film slightly shaky. To overcome this I had to slightly change the camera movement so that the film stayed still, looking more professional.

Feedback on First Draft

I have asked my target audience what they think of my first draft to get feedback and to see what I can change to make it better.
Response 1: I like the way the images on screen match the lyrics, so the story is told really well. The scene with the camp fire works really well and the colours look effective and makes you connect with the characters. However I think there are places where it seems a little flat and could do with some scenes that are more dynamic and memorable. I look forward to seeing the stop motion animation.
Response 2: When I watched the music promo, I didn't feel as though I connected well with the actors and think I should especially connect with the male character as he is the artist being sold. I think that there should be some more clips focused more on the artist, but I like the first draft as a whole.
Respone 3: I think the promo is really good and works well with the song, it made me feel happy for the couple. I think there could be a couple of bits tweaked , especially in the living room where the camera is a little bit shaky. Other than that I think the promo works well

Tracklist Layout Feedback

I have taken the draft's to my target audience to ask which layout they prefer visually. The majority said that they preferred the second draft so this is the layout I will continue to edit for the back cover of the digipack.
